Using BOS for 360 degree appraisals

BOS has been used by a number of organisations for 360 degree appraisals.

Let's assume the aim is to get feedback from a manager's boss, team, other managers and customers. You want to pose a common core of questions to all parties but need to have one or two question variations for each of the four target audiences.

Instructions

  1. Create your first survey targeted, say, at the manager's boss.
  2. Use this survey as the template for the other three surveys.
  3. Make amendments and additions to the surveys as required but remember that common questions must remain identical to allow comparison.
  4. Launch and issue surveys to their intended audience.
  5. When the surveys have been complete use the "Compare Results" feature in BOS:
    1. Using the survey aimed at the manager (or one of the others)
    2. click on the "Results" icon
    3. click on "Compare Results"
    4. this will produce a list of surveys that contain matching questions (this may take some time as all surveys in your account will be searched). Tick the three surveys with which you want to compare
    5. if you wish you can tick the box that reads "Only show combined results, rather than each individual survey"
    6. click on "Compare"
    7. you will see the results for all questions with quantitative answers plus combined totals.
  6. You will need to examine survey-specific responses and free-text answers on a survey-by-survey basis.
