How to set survey permissions using Account Security

The fine-grained security cost option provides control over who can do what with your surveys. Administrators or authors, on a survey-by-survey basis, can set the following sharing permissions for other users in your account by following these instructions:

  1. On the "My Surveys" page select the "Sharing" link for the survey you want to change the permissions for. A screenshot of the My Surveys page showing the location of the padlock icon (highlighted in a square)
  2.

  3. Read and assign the relevant rights for designated account users. For instance, if you want to allow example user "John White" to use the survey as a template from within the "Create Survey" area, you would select "Copy"; while if you want to allow example user "Paul Done" full access to survey results, you would select "All Results". Please bear in mind that when you select "Copy" for a designated user "Preview" will be automatically enforced and likewise if you select "All Results" then "Limited Results" will be automatically enforced.A screenshot of the Survey Permissions page showing how example users are assigned access rights (highlighted in two squares)
  4.

Also, please note that if a user is an account administrator, he or she will have an asterisk next to his/her name. The asterisk signifies that the user, as an administrator for the account, will have the following permissions by default: "Copy, Edit and Preview".   This means an administrator can by default:

  • use the survey as a template
  • amend/add/delete questions and launch surveys
  • have access to "Options" and be able to change the survey's options
  • review questions

Once you have assigned the relevant permissions for the designated users, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Save.
