Create a GRID format question

A Grid format questions allows you to combine all other question types in a table of rows and columns. Grid format questions can be created by following these instructions:

  1. Click 'Add Question'. The 'add question' screen will appear:

  2. Select the Grid type question from the bottom of the list and click 'Add':A screenshot highlighting how to add a Grid question
  3. At the next screen, add an introduction to the question (for example, please select a response for each item in the table below that best describes your opinion).A screenshot showing how questions are added to the grid format
  4. Add the questions you wish to ask that will appear as rows in the grid question. Add each new question on a new line by pressing enter (return).
  5. When you are happy with the questions, click 'Add Question Column'.

  6. At the next screen, choose the question type e.g. 'multiple choice' to add:

  7. In the 'question text' box, you may want to add an additional instruction that will appear above the columns in the box, e.g. 'select one response for each question':

  8. Add the common options to be available to the respondents in the 'Answers' box that will appear at the top of each column (for example, Strongly disagree, Largely disagree, Neither agree nor disagree, Agree, Strongly agree). Choose one of the 'save' options.
  9. The question is finished and can be previewed.
  10. Should you need to edit the question, from the edit screen, find the specific question and select 'Edit' from the menu. This will launch the edit screen and allow you to change the question.
